I was about 15 years old when I first fell in love with dreadlocks. I don't even remember the person or image I saw that struck me, but what I do remember is obsessively devouring any literature about dreadlocks that I could get my hands on. I had plans for starting them myself but ultimately, I chickened out because I didn't want to have to shave my head if I messed up!
As I got older, I became fascinated with the way a hair color and style changes a person, so I decided to enroll in hair school. Coming from a conservative family, wild hair was not an option for me, but that doesn't mean I can't give it to others.
After obtaining my license in 2011, I started growing bored with salon world. I needed something to light my fire again. Barbering was closer, and I pursued that for several years, getting my add-on license in 2018.
That same year, having accomplished almost all the hair colors on my own head at some point, I started looking for something new. This hunt led me to temporary dreadlock extensions. I amassed quite a collection, and was soon known for wearing them. It wasn't long after that that a demand for natural dreadlock services was born and my fire was reignited. I became obsessed; attending classes, practicing whenever possible and even working as a dreadlock and natural hair specialist for Denver Fashion Week.
In the future, I hope to become a dreadlock artist educator, do more editorial and runway hair, and maybe go real crazy and start my own dreadlock product line or something!
When I'm not working, learning, or practicing, I love to just hang out with my dog and 2 cats, watching Futurama and psychological thrillers. I drink way too much coffee and eat way too much pasta.
Now that you know a little about me, let me show you what I love to do!
